Arsenal are set to extend the contracts of star forward duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Aubameyang and Lacazette have both starred for the Gunners this season. Aubameyang has netted 20 times in the league to go with 8 Europa League goals.
Lacazette, on the other hand, has struck 13 times in the league and 5 times in Europe.
Their tally makes them among the most formidable strike partnerships in the world. However, it’s not just goals that they bring to the side. Their willingness to track back and also press the opposition high up the pitch have earned praise from the fans.
Arsenal learning from past mistakes
As a result, Arsenal are now looking to secure their long-term futures. This comes as a pleasant surprise as the Gunners have often allowed contracts of star players to run down before losing them for free. This was the case with the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Robin van Persie.
However, it appears they have learned from their mistakes. Both Lacazette and Aubameyang are set to receive extensions in the summer.
Raise from £190,000 to £250,000 per week
Aubameyang earns a reported £190,000 per week following his blockbuster move from Borussia Dortmund last January. He still has two years left on his current deal, but reports suggest the Gunners will offer him a two-year extension.
Lacazette, meanwhile, is in the same boat. He too receives a similar wage packet and is contracted with the side till 2022.
Both players are set to be awarded hefty raises, which would see them earn around £250,000 per week, making them the joint second highest-paid players at the club.
Arsenal fans will be glad with this news, having seen so many star players leave the club in recent years. The Gunners, for now, will look to finish the season on a high by lifting the Europa League trophy before they head into an important off-season.
