Barcelona legend urges Catalans to sign PSG superstar

Former Barcelona striker Rivaldo has urged the Catalans to complete a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.

Neymar left Barcelona in 2017, joining PSG in a record-breaking deal. However, life in Paris hasn’t been to his liking.

Neymar fed up of France; keen on Barcelona return

After another disappointing Champions League exit, Neymar is believed to be fed up with the club’s lack of ambition and inability to compete at the highest level.

As a result, he is looking for a move away. A return to Barcelona has been mooted as a potential option, with the Catalans keen on reuniting the volatile Brazilian with Lionel Messi.

Barcelona were reportedly close to completing a move earlier this month, but those rumours were quashed by PSG, who claimed they had received no offers for Neymar till date.

The player himself recently made headlines, issuing a ‘come and get me’ plea to Barcelona.

A number of other clubs are also interested in signing the talisman, including Real Madrid. However, former Barcelona striker Rivaldo believes Neymar should return to Camp Nou.

“For the moment, the one [Brazilian] that I like the most is Neymar. I [would] like that he returns to Barcelona.”

He also stated that fans might not be open to the idea of having the PSG star back at Barcelona. However, he also explained that the past is the past and that if the Brazilian wants to return to the club, he should be offered plenty of support.

“It’s difficult because of the way Neymar left. I think a lot of the fans are angry with everything that happened. but football is how it is. football is good, and Neymar is a great player who has personality.

“So if he comes here of course there will be times when he is criticised by some fans. but in the games, the training sessions, Neymar will still be the same Neymar. it could be something special for Barcelona.”

If the striker were to return, it would likely be in another record-breaking move. Whether Barcelona have the funds to pull off such a deal remains to be seen.
