Former Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery is close to completing a move to Serie A side Fiorentina.
Ribery announced his departure from Bayern this summer after 12 lucrative seasons with the German side.
The Frenchman was one of the cornerstones of Bayern’s golden era, winning a total of nine Bundesliga titles as well as six German Cups.
However, keen to embark on a new phase in his career, Ribery opted to leave the Bavarians following the end of his contract this summer.

The Frenchman revealed that he has spoken to former teammate Luca Toni and heard only good things about the club.
“I’m happy, I’m here with my family. I’ve been talking with Fiorentina for the past week. I’ve also spoken to Luca Toni. He told me it is a great club and an amazing city. I like Florence, plus I already know Italian. It’s not perfect but it’s good.”
Ribery to complete medical on Thursday; will become fifth summer signing
Ribery will become Fiorentina’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Pol Lirola from Sassuolo, Erick Pulgar from Bologna and Milan Badelj from Lazio.
He will be officially unveiled by the club on Thursday night following which he will have his first official press conference.
Ribery will be looking to lead the side back to their glory days after a disappointing 16th-place finish last time around.
Fiorentina will begin their Serie A campaign with a tough fixture against Napoli. Ribery is not expected to feature in the game, although he could be ready for their subsequent clash against Genoa.
