Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has revealed that he has informed his club about his future plans.
Hazard explained that he had told his club about his plans two weeks ago. The Belgian hoped that the mystery surrounding his future would be cleared up by now, but it appears he will have to wait until the end of the season for that to happen.
Uncertainty surrounds Eden Hazard
It remains uncertain whether Hazard informed Chelsea that he would like to leave or stay. The Belgian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer and appears destined for an exit.
However, Chelsea’s late surge in the Premier League helped them secure Champions League football for next season.
Moreover, they snuck into the final of the Europa League and have a real shot at getting their hands on silverware.
Will he stay or will he go?
If they do indeed lift the trophy, it might yet convince Hazard to stay at the club. Madrid though are getting increasingly confident of securing Hazard’s services for next season.
The former Lille star has just 1 year left on his contract. As a result, Chelsea would be keen on offloading him if he does desire an exit as it would allow them the opportunity to recoup some of the money they spent on him in the first place.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Leicester last night, Hazard said:
“Yes. A couple of weeks ago. Yes, I have made my decision but it is not just about me. I have made my decision, that’s it.”
“I’m still waiting like you are waiting and like the fans are waiting.”
His words certainly indicate that he is destined for an exit. However, stranger things have happened in the world of football and we will have to wait until the Europa League final for an update.
