Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has fired a warning at Liverpool, claiming his side will do everything in their power to defeat their English rivals.
Spurs will face Liverpool in the Champions League final tomorrow. Both sides overcame the odds to make it to the showpiece clash.
While Spurs rode on a Lucas Moura hattrick to overturn a 3-goal deficit in one half, Liverpool banked on a team effort to upstage Barcelona in the second leg of their semifinal clash at Anfield.
“We will not lie down. We dream we will stand with the trophy”
The Reds beat Spurs both times the clubs faced each other in the Premier League this season.
As a result, they enter this clash as firm favourites. However, Eriksen is not ready to throw in the towel, insisting that his side are up for the encounter and ready to go all guns blazing.
“We will not lie down. We dream we will stand with the trophy – that’s what we see in our heads. But we know it won’t come easy.”
“I came to Spurs six years ago and it’s been an upwards curve since. We’ve been in the top four for many years and have been in the Champions League. It would be a massive statement to be able to win this competition.”
Not a lot has come easy for Spurs this campaign. They’ve been ravaged by injuries and have lacked squad depth at crucial times. However, they’ve battled past such shortcomings to make it to the summit clash.
Christian Eriksen and Spurs have a mountain to climb
They might be without talisman Harry Kane for the final. The striker has not featured since picking up an ankle injury in Spurs’ quarterfinal tie against Manchester City and it remains to be seen if he is fit enough to play a major role in the final at Madrid.
Either way, Spurs have already won hearts with their performances thus far and would love to finish their season on a high.
