However, that hasn’t happened. Instead, he has urged fans not to draw conclusions of their own.

Earlier, Casillas’s doctor had explained that the former Madrid keeper would make a full recovery. However, he did caution that the Spaniard might never play professional football again, indicating the end of his storied career.

Now, though, Casillas himself has claimed that he is not ready to call it a day. The World Cup winner took to social media to give an update about his condition.

“Hi everyone. Retiring… the day will come when I have to retire. Please allow me to announce that decision when the moment arrives.”

“But for now, I need peace. Yesterday I had a check-up with Dr Filipe Macedo. All good. That’s the big news I want to share with all of you!

Casillas is a true legend of the game. At Real Madrid, he won several Champions League as well as La Liga crowns and also held the record for the most appearances in the league.

He then moved to Porto in 2015 and continued his success. At the Portuguese club, Casillas has won two trophies, including the league. He also recently signed a contract extension which would keep him at the club till 2020.

While he is not expected to play another game this season, it remains to be seen if he does decide to call it a day.
