Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has shockingly revealed that he could leave the club in the summer.
Rose joined Spurs over a decade ago from Leeds United. He has since gone on to establish himself as the Lilywhites’ first-choice left-back.
However, an injury-riddled couple of seasons resulted in him falling down the pecking order. Having been overlooked in favour of Ben Davies, Rose is now keen on a move away.
Danny Rose reveals uncertainty over future
Speaking after England’s UEFA Nations League game against Switzerland, Rose cited a lack of game time as the reason for his decision.
“I don’t know what the future holds now. I’m looking forward to a break. If I’m back at Tottenham next season, great, if I’m not – great. I’ll just have to wait and see.
“It’s not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club’s run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on.
“It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on and I’ll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way I’m prepared for whatever happens.”
Rose is currently Spurs’ longest-tenured player and has been through all the ups and downs with the club.
This season, Spurs came ever so close to lifting their first ever Champions League crown. However, they were stopped at the final hurdle by Liverpool, who defeated the Lilywhites 2-0 in the final.
Disappointing end to the season
That Champions League final defeat could, in fact, be the last game for a number of Spurs players.
Aside from Rose, the likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and even Lucas Moura could all be heading out of the club in the summer, with Europe’s heavyweights waiting to make a move.
If Rose does indeed decide to leave, he will depart a true legend of the club.
